Flight Attendant Reserve Schedule
What does "being on reserve" mean?
Reserve means that you are "on call" and should be available for
work during assigned "reserve" blocks of time to work trips that
need to be covered due to sick calls, vacation, etc. While on
reserve you must be checked in at the airport and ready for duty
within two hours of being contacted.
It is very difficult to commute while on Reserve. It is highly
recommended that you relocate to the city that you are assigned as a
domicile. All of your trip assignments will begin and end in your
assigned domicile.
While on reserve, you may be away
from home for up to six days a week and scheduled to work up to 13.5
hours each day. The time spent on reserve varies depending on the
growth within your domicile. You could be flying frequently
throughout the month and still be considered on "reserve status".
While on reserve you may be sent to another domicile to "sit"
reserve at that location for a number of days and then be returned
to your assigned domicile.
Once you graduate from
training class and pass your Initial Operating Experience (IOE), you
will be placed on immediate "reserve" status in your designated
domicile until you are able to actively bid from the next months bid
pack.
You will likely work holidays, weekends and
birthdays in the early stages of your employment with the airlines.
Flight Attendant Salary/Pay Scale
After you successfully complete Initial New Hire training, you are
guaranteed 75 flight hours as a reserve. Whether you fly 1 hour or
75 hours, you are paid for 75 flight hours.
The gross pay figures below are based on a 75 flight hour guarantee per month.
In addition, you are paid $1.65 per diem for every hour you are on
duty away from your domicile. On average this is an additional
$3,000 per year.
Line holder schedules average 90
hours per month. Line holders may drop or trade some assigned trips
with approval, although they must fly a minimum of 68 flight hours
per month.
